Motorkeep launches to help UK drivers find and compare car storage
A free new service lists more than 430 car storage facilities across 61 UK counties, and gets owners prices from nearby sites with a single enquiry.
Motorkeep (motorkeep.co.uk), an independent comparison service for UK car storage, has launched to make finding somewhere to keep a car as simple as comparing insurance.
Until now, anyone laying up a classic for winter, storing a car while working abroad or simply out of garage space has had to search facility by facility, with few prices published. Motorkeep brings them together: owners describe their car and what they need once, and the enquiry is matched to up to three suitable facilities nearby, which reply with prices.
The service is free for car owners and, while the network is being built, free for facilities too, with no commission on any storage contract. Motorkeep doesn't own or run any storage itself. Since September, 21 operators have claimed their listings to add prices, photos and services.
Where facilities publish prices, the median starting rate is £140 a month, with the middle half between £97 and £162, based on 105 facilities.
Alongside the comparison service, Motorkeep publishes free, sourced guides on storing a car over winter, SORN, laid-up insurance, damp and mould, and what storage costs.
Peter Simpson of Motorkeep said: “Most people only need car storage once or twice, so they've no idea what's out there or what it should cost. We wanted to put the options in one place, with honest prices and plain advice, and let the facilities come to you.”
